About Streamline Warrens Taxis

Streamline Warrens Taxis are the oldest and probably, most respected independent taxi operator in the Bournemouth area.

Originally established in 1950, the company took the name Warrens from Mr. Gilbert Warren in 1961. It was subsequently bought in 1994 by Mr. & Mrs. Vincent who both had over 30 years' experience in the taxi trade. During their ownership, Warrens Taxis took over 3 other local companies and became Streamline Warrens Taxis in 2001. The present owners are Mark & Nicky Smith, who formed the current limited company in 2003.

Mark & Nicky also have many years' experience in the trade and are actively expanding the business, by investing in new technology and vehicles.

In July 2007, Streamline Warrens invested in the very latest computer 'intelligent despatch' system from CORDIC. Every vehicle on the fleet now has satellite navigation as standard, and being an 'intelligent' system, it means that the closest vehicle is despatched to each job as it comes in. This means a faster and more reliable service for the customer and a more cost effective despatch system for the company.

In December 2007, Streamline Warrens took over another two local companies, bringing the total fleet size to over 65 vehicles, thus becoming the second largest taxi operator in the Bournemouth area. New vehicles are being added all the time and the company aims to become the biggest local taxi operator in the not too distant future.

Additionally, Streamline Warrens are the only local taxi company to have its own garage facilities for the service and maintenance of its fleet, which ensures that any servicing issues are dealt with immediately.

About Our Office

The administration and operating centre is based at the Triangle in central Bournemouth. This doesn't mean however that we concentrate our business in the centre of town. At any one time, we will have vehicles available across the local area and are able to cover work from Christchurch to Poole and beyond when necessary.

Our operating staff are both friendly & experienced, many of them have been with us for several years. They know the local and surrounding area extremely well and with the new CORDIC system can find any street or postcode in the United Kingdom within a few seconds.

About Our Drivers

All of our drivers are thoroughly checked by both the company and Bournemouth Borough Council. Criminal Records Bureau checks are standard for every driver and in addition many go through further checks to ensure their suitability for carrying out Social Services contracts for Bournemouth Borough Council and Dorset County Council, for transporting young children or vulnerable passengers.

As well as all of these safeguards, every Streamline Warrens driver has attended either a BTEC or NVQ2 course in Transporting Passengers by Taxi & Private Hire Vehicle. We like to think that we have the most 'professional' fleet in the Bournemouth area, as many of our competitors have yet to catch us up in this area.

Last, but not least, many of our drivers have been trained in transporting disabled and/or vulnerable passengers and are able to cope with the ‘special requirements’ that this type of job entails.

About Our Work

Whilst the majority of work is running people around the Bournemouth area, we are able to cater for all types of journeys, to any destination in the United Kingdom (and further if the price is right!).

Much of our day-to-day work will be normal saloon car pick ups. We do however have a large number of 'multi-seater' vehicles and can cater for up to 8 passengers in addition to having several 'wheelchair accessible' vehicles.

We can normally cover any job that is thrown at us at short notice, but we would recommend you book in advance if you require a 'multi-seater' or 'wheelchair accessible' vehicle.

Streamline Warrens Taxis have many national and local account customers. Apart from our regular contract work for Bournemouth Borough Council and Dorset County Council, we number among our valued customers such companies as Standard Life Healthcare, Lester Aldridge, Ceuta Healthcare, Anthony Barker, Bournemouth University, Disability Wessex, Eurocentres & Kings School of English.

Many local hotels & restaurants also use our service and have their own account with us. Amongst these are the Suncliff, Cliffside, Cumberland, Bournemouth International, Miramar, Riviera & Orchid hotels and the Alcatraz, La Strada & Zorbas restaurants.

About Our Prices

All Hackney Carriage and Private Hire vehicles in Bournemouth operate off a 'metered tariff'. The charges are set by Bournemouth Borough Council and are reviewed in April of each year. Not many people know that you can request a printed receipt from any Bournemouth taxi or Private Hire vehicle as a matter of course.

To give you a rough idea, for the year commencing April 2007, the charges during daylight hours (06:30 - 23:59), are £3.22 for the first mile and £1.81 for every subsequent mile.

Night time (00:00 - 06:29), charges increase by 33.3% and during the Christmas period and over New Year, they are 50% above the normal day rate.

Naturally we offer 'below meter rate' prices for longer journeys. You would need to contact our office to find out what these are, when we would be delighted to give you a firm quotation. We would also be happy to quote you a 'fixed fare' price for regular journeys that you may have to make on a daily or weekly basis.

About The Future

Streamline Warrens has been a 'family run' business since its inception in 1950. To this day, it remains the same - though this doesn't mean that we can't compete with so called 'larger' companies that boast all singing - all dancing systems.

We truly believe that customers prefer to speak to a person on the other end of the phone - not a machine. The personal touch has been successful for over 50 years for our company.

We do however have to keep up with the times and this is reflected in our conversion to the CORDIC dispatch system from voice control and the introduction of our brand new web booker system for those that wish to use it.

Initially it will be for our account customers only, and you will only be able to book a 'saloon' type vehicle a minimum of one hour in advance. If you would like a 'multi-seater' or 'wheelchair accessible' vehicle or there are any other special requirements, please continue to telephone us as you would normally.
